This year Pixelpusher has been working hard to brighten up the holiday season in more than one way. Instead of gifts we have made a donation on your behalf to the Canadian Brain Tumour Foundation. That’s not all though, we have also created a spectacular display of festive lights to share with you!

Graham Barton

Pixelpusher’s co-founder Graham Barton died on Saturday (Dec 17) after a long battle with brain cancer.

Graham was in many ways a prodigy, everything seemed to come easy for him whether rollerblading, first person shooters or coding Flash. Graham was a fighter but at the same time quiet and gentle. He was deeply passionate about his friends, his family and his work.

Pixelpusher will never be quite the same.

Graham we miss you.

GIF Rap this Christmas with Skittles

Coming off the success of Touch the Rainbow BBDO ad team Mike & Chris have funked up the holidays with a bit of the ol’ GIF rap. In record time we were asked to create a site that combined the best of GIF animation, Rap music and internet memes, all with a delicious Christmas coating. Mix up some animation, sound and some text and send it to your friends.

Pixelpusher creates Augmented Reality for the new VW Launch

Red Urban hired Pixelpusher to discover if it was posible to create large scale AR experiences using billboards in Toronto’s Dundas Square. After weeks of testing and experimentation we were able to put together a recommendation and a team to make it happen.

Having already built Augmented Reality (AR) projects for clients such as Nissan, Ford and Belmont, Pixelpusher was ready to create an experience that promoted the new 2012 Beetle in an unexpected way. Our technological expertise enabled us to bring the Beetle to billboards and bus shelters as part of the larger campaign by the agency Red Urban.

The resulting app uses AR to project 3D animations onto actual surfaces such as billboards and bus shelters when you point your iPhone or iPad at them. The Beetle comes flying out of the ad and jumps off ramps, right on your mobile device! Download the app to experience the magic for yourself!

Sasha's HTML5 banner featured on the Tumult Blog

Sasha our talented lead animator put together a kick ass banner in HTML5 that is virtually indistinguishable from a Flash banner. To build it he used the sweet HTML5 authoring tool Hype built by Tumult. Tumult was so impressed by his skills thay have featured him on their blog.

Today, we’re showcasing an animated ad banner created by Sasha Zivanovic, the animation director at Pixelpusher. Sasha produced the animation above in the first two hours after installing Hype. As Pixelpusher’s senior animator & animation director, Sasha has 10 years of award winning animation experience behind him. It was a treat to see his first production in Hype. It’s worth mentioning that this banner looks virtually identical on the major desktop and mobile browsers.

Pixelpusher 3.0 launches!

We have a new website! After several years we decided that our previous website was getting a little long in the tooth – so here is the replacement. We’ve added some of our latest work, including web based projects, augmented reality, mobile apps and more. Check it out!
